The city is situated either side of the Vltava
River. On the left bank is the castle district which overlooks
the city and this area is linked by the famous Charles Bridge
to the medieval Old Town and Wencelas Square. The city is like
a living museum
with its cobbled streets and squares, historic buildings and monuments.
Prague is an exciting, cosmopolitan city with
a vibrant atmosphere day and night. Nightlife is superb and inexpensive
with more than 2000 bars, clubs and restaurants, selling excellent
Czech beer from just 20p a pint and steak and chips for around £2.00.
Czech football has an impressive pedigree with
several successful World Cup and European Championship campaigns
including Euro'96. Domestically Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague
dominate; other city teams include Bohemians Prague and former
army team Dukla Prague.
